HOW YOUR CLASSES ARE DETERMINED
TEACHERS are responsible for deciding what level of a class the student is to be scheduled. The recommendation is based on a variety of student information: PSSA scores (past, present, projected); Report Cards (past, present); Ability demonstrated in the classroom; and Overall student desire to achieve.
COUNSELORS are responsible for putting students' schedules into the computer system based on Teacher recommendations.

WHAT ARE THE CLASSES?
- Students in grades 7 & 8 do not select classes. The classes listed below are the standard classes for all students in 7th & 8th grades
- Students interested in joining or dropping out of Band or Chorus, must contact the directors. (Band - Mr. Lennox) (Chorus - Mrs. Kline). The director will contact the counselor, who will make the schedule change.
- ONLY English Language Arts and Math are students placed according to Teacher recommendations
Geography, History, and Science classes are taught at the same level - MOST students will have an Academic Prep (study hall) every other day
- ALL students are required to take Physical Education every other day
- ALL students will have a math class every day plus an additional math class on alternating days.
This means students will have a double period (block) every other day

- During the Spring months, counselors work to place students into teacher recommended classes for the following school year
- Students can view their Course Recommendations through the CSIU student portal at any time
- Students who do NOT need to attend Summer School can view a tentative class schedule in their CSIU student portal around the middle of June
- Students who DO attend Summer School (AND pass the required courses) should expect an updated schedule around the end of the first week in August
- HOW DO I CHANGE MY SCHEDULE?
- Leveled courses (English, Language Arts, Math) can only be changed through teacher recommendations. (Whether this is over the summer or any time during the school year.)
- Once schedules are set for the school year, they can only be changed through a teacher or administrative recommendation.
- After receiving teacher or administrative approval of a change the counselor will change the student's schedule.
- If you decide to drop out of Band or Chorus, you/parent must contact the director. They will notify the counselor who will make the schedule change.
NOTE ... dropping Band/Chorus will be replaced by another graded class - Students in BOTH Band & Chorus will NOT have an Academic Prep (study hall)
